Will VM Converter clone the entire disc AND OS?

Hello. I am wanting use VM Converter to clone my Windows laptop HDD and move it over to VMWare Fusion on my Mac. My question is, can I clone the entire disc, including Vista basic, and move it over? I was planning on using an external drive to do the file transfer. Thanks for any help.

yes. However if it's an OEM it will require a re-activation because the hardware changed. So, if you have an ELA key your ok, otherwise you may be out of luck

Thanks much for the info Troy. Yes, it is an OEM, and yes, I do have the Vista serial number/sticker on the bottom of the laptop. I really appreciate your reply.

that key is specific to the hardware, it's OEM. So, using that key will not work if you need to re-apply the key to your VM.

OK. No problem. Thank you for the heads up. I should be able to get a new key if needed. I appreciate the info on that.

Rick. Thank you also for the answer. In light of the hardware issues, when I was using VM Converter, I was able to check off the items I wanted to install. Would it be suggested that I just install the files pertinent to what I am looking for here? I noticed there were options for networking hardware and other hardware devices. Should I re clone and just pick the files? It seems the help article is focusing more on the OEM hardward problems than just coming up with another activation number. I can definately see where OEM hardware options could cause conflicts. Thanks again.
