Hi,
Anybody knows why my VM Win2008 OS doesn´t recognize the 6 vSMP(virtual CPU) assigned, and only recognize 4 vSMP?.
I have the correct license for VSphere and VCenter, also into the Device Manager of the guest OS, I can see the six vCPUs but into the system properties window I can see only four vCPUs.
I´m running on ESX 4.0
I hope somebody can help me about this issue.
P.S. I attached the device manager and system properties images
Thanks in advance!!

Thanks Mark,
Then a Win 2008 Enterprise must recognize the six vCPU's?
If you really need that many CPUs/cores, you could configure multicore CPUs. This feature is officially supported in ESX(i) 4.1 and was experimental in 4.0. See http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1010184

I would also suggest applying SP2,which may help.

Thanks for your guidance guys...
However, Mark's answer was the correct one.
Thank you.
If I were you I would definitely give a star to a.p. for the link to KB article "Setting the number of cores per CPU in a virtual machine". http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1010184
It is extremely helpful!
All the best
