How long the VM was running before it is powered off?
Was this VM migrated to a new box ? is it running on ESX or ESXi?
It appears to have crashed on some serial port communication.
-Surya
Hi surya,
The virtual machine running in ESX host, this virtual machine has restarted 7-jan also.

Can you give me more details like what is this VM's role in your environment?
What kind of device is connected on the serial port? how is the GOS configured in the VM for the serial port.
Like the baud rate and any other information like what is the VM supposed to do with the serial port communication.

Any answers to this issue? I have experienced this exact problem with one of my VM's.
My VM was a P2V machine and I noticed it still had a serial port configured. I am going to disable the serial port since that is all I am coming up with but I am interested whether or not there is an explanation or solution.
Thanks
Hello,
In ESX 3.5 U4 and VC2.5, after a P2V with have the exact same problem with a serial port attached on one of our VMs. We have no explanation at this time from the vmware support, anyone has found a fix or the explanation for this issue ?
A Dump has been generated but I don't how I can analyze a dump of a VM. 😐
Best regards
