Virtual Machines Maitenance Mode

hello

just quick question, if i put the ESX server on Maitenance Mode is that will affect the Vmachines from running normally, or they will stay stable

i want to make sure before i do it.

If the host is in a cluster the VMs will be vMotioned to other hosts automatically before the host goes into mainenance. If it's not in a cluster the host won't go into Maintenance mode until you manually vMotion or power off the VMs.

Either way, no running VMs will be terminated by trying to put a host into maintenance mode.

Automatic Vmotion is only done when DRS is set to fully automated. In the other case you'll need to Vmotion the VMs manually (select all and migrate to the cluster).

And as said: VMs are not affected by maintenance mode.
