Virtual Machine will not start since migration

Hello,

I had a RedHat 4 Server 70G (20G for OS and 50G Volume Group for data) running on ESX 3.0.1 on a HP-EVA DataStore. I then created a 72G DataStore off another SAN (NetAPP SAN)

I powered down the Vm, migrated and moved all files to the new DataStore (72G in size) and now it will not power up????

I keep getting Insufficent Disk Space on DataStore ????? I have 1.G free on the DataStore, so why has it migrated without error but failes to start?

Please help.

Regards

Nigel

How much memory have you allocated the VM?

Remember, when powering-on, ESX will create a vmkernel swap file equal to the difference between configured RAM and the memory reservation of the VM. So, if the VM has 1 Gb or more of memory you will not be able to power-on the VM unless you either decrease the amount of memory or grant the VM a memory reservation.

############### Under no circumstances are you to award me any points. Thanks!!!

Indeed, you could set the memory reservation to amount of mem the vm has... this way it will not create a swap file. it's better to create a larger vmfs though,
