Virtual Controller errors, and bad blocks on Virtual Disk

Hi,

We have a LUN attached to a Windows 2003 SP1 Server. This Windows 2003 Server is a VMware Virtual Machine running on ESX 3.01. When we use EVA CA to replicate this LUN to our Disaster Recovery EVA, the following events occur at frequent intervals:

Event ID 11 the driver detected a controller error on \device\harddisk2

Event ID 15 The device \device\scsi\symmpi1 is not ready for access yet.

Once the CA was suspended, these events stopped.

However about an hour later the following events occurred at frequent intervals:

Event ID 7 The device \device\harddisk 2 has a bad block

Event ID 30 dmio: harddisk 2 write error at block 873676719

When we removed the LUN, re-advertised it again, and then restarted the server, these events stopped.

While event id 11 and 17 are being generated, some users cannot save documents to the LUN

While event id 7 and 30 are being generated, documents saved to the LUN are corrupted.

Whilst this initially looks like an EVA issue, there are no events being written to the EVA event log, so it may be that the EVA is creating the situation, but the errors are definitely occurring in the virtualised environment.

Any help is most appreciated.

Regards,

Scott.
