VMware Tools for Red Hat Linux 4 Enterprise on ESX 3.0.1

I just installed a Linux VM for RHEL 4 Enterprise. My first. VM's running fine, and VMware Tools for it installed fine as well, but I'm just wondering what it 'buys' me, relative to what Windows guest VMware Tools does?

I know all about Windows guest VMtools/drivers, but is there a decent read/primer on what the Tools do for Linux guests, and how/what to tweak for best performance/supportability? Been looking through the docs, but I'm missing something. Thanks!

What I can tell about, based on my experience with vmware tools and rhel 4 is that vmware tools help to improve the virtual network funcionality and performance, also increase memory performance...

I don't have any materials to read about, this is only what I could see using rhel 4 on ESX 3.0.1.

I hope this can help you
