VMs time sync with ESX Server

Hello,

I am running ESXi 4.1 and i have created 3 VMs (RHEL, OEL, Windows2008). How can i have all the VMs time sync with ESX Server?

I have already installed VMware tools on all the VMs. After VMware tools installation, i have selected "Synchrionize guest time with host" option in Edit settings of each VMs. Still the time is differing from host.

Kindly let me know, if I am wrong with the procedure.

Thanks in Advance.

I have done this one before by syncing VMware with ESX server. Everything had run smoothly and still working properly. I guess you just have made some problem setting it up from the beginning. http://imagicon.info/cat/5-59/1.gif

What time zone is you esx host set to? Is it GMT ro another time zone? If it is another time zone is it the same time zone as your VMs?

Hello weinstein5,

I am using ESXi 4.1 and it uses UTC time and does not support changing time zones. (Source: http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1436).

In ESXi 4.1, we dont have "usr/share/zoneinfo". How can i check the zoneinfo in ESXi 4.1?

Hello VirtualSingh,

I am not finding any attachment.
