VMWare tools and Linux guest kernel support

How can I determine which versions of the Linux kernel (RHEL specifically) the VMWare Tools support? I installed a Linux guest and updated the kernel, however the updated kernel didn't have full support and that was causing some issues.

Hello,

The latest version of the tools supports all versions of RHEL that VI3/ESX Supports. I use it with CentOS/RHEL 5.1 all the time with no issues. You may have to rebuild the tools from time to time as you update the kernels as there may not be a prebuilt one. If you are using a 2.6.24 kernel, more is required. Check out http://www.astroarch.com/wiki/index.php/VMware_Tools for more on this.
