VM hangs when being cloned

I have a VM which I clone every night and then transfer to a file server for backup purposes (I actually do this with a number of different machines). One of these VMs however hangs while it is being cloned and won't respond until it is finished.

I haven't been able to figure out how to resolve this issue as of yet. Has anybody seen this before that might be able to help out?

I'm using ESX v4.0 and cloning a Windows Server 2003 machine.

Thanks in advance.
