VM fails at user login

I've had two virtual machines running two different OS's (Linux and MS Server) give me the same problem.

The virtual machine will start, but when you try to log into it, it's gone in the blink of the eye!

Has anyone see this before?

Hello,

I saw this on a WinXP (no SP) system where the VM came from workstation with an old set or vmware-tools. I converted the machine using VMwareConverter and autoinstalled vmware-tools. THe problem was that vmware-tools required a LSASS security patch to make work. I redid this without applying vmware-tools. Applied the patch, upgraded to the latest VMware Tools and all worked as expected.

Later I redid everything but upgraded to SP2 and that also solved the problem.

Best regards,

Edward

This can also happen if you have APC Powerchute software installed on your VM. Where these conversions from physical servers?
