VM Invalid after Snapshot

A strange thing happened. I built a linux VM today. It was working and everything was fine. I made a final update and took a snapshot. Then all of the sudden the console went black and in the VM list it went gray and "(invalid)" showed up next to it in the list.

All of the options for the VM are greyed out. I cannot restore from snapshot or power it on. What has happened to the VM? Is this salvagable or do I have to start over?

On your esxhost, run 'service mgmt-vmware restart'. If the vm does not come back into a good state, just right-click, and remove from inventory. Then, you should be able to browse your datastore, find your vm folder, and then right-click the vmx file and add it back into inventory.
