Uprgade hardware hangs, cant start VM

after migration (cold) from esx2.52 host to a new 3.0.2 host everything worked fin but the "upgrade" hardware action has now been running for 13 hours.... Cant do anything with that VM.

whatever I do I get "Operation failed since another task is in progress"

Migrated several other VMS the same way and they worked fine.

i had this before what i did is copy the vmdk and vmx files to the vmfs partition directory and from VI Client browse to that directory right click on the vmx file and add to inverntory. It all sorted itself out from there
