Upgrade VM from Workstation 5.x to Workstation 6.x with VMPlayer or VMServer

Hi,

I got a VM system which requires 8gb ram, but is a workstation 5.x VM.

My system can provide 8gb to ws 6.5 VM's with VM Player.

The only possibilities I googled so far require VirtualCenter or ESX, which is far beyond my reach...

Is there a way to upgrade the VM with VMPlayer or VMServer without having to buy a big license?

best regards,

Reinhard

Welcome to the forums!

VMware Server offers 8 GB RAM for guests and it is free. You can use your guest under VMware Server but you may have to "upgrade" the virtual hardware. EIther via VMWare Server (Read Page 72 of the manual) or via the free VMware Converter Standalone.
