Unknown Device inside a VM

Hello,

I just set up an HP DL380 G5 server with ESX 3.5. I installed the first VM (Windows 2003 R2 Enterprise) on this box, from scratch, and I have an Unknown device listed in device manager.

"PCI Memory Controller" Listed Hardware IDs:

PCI\VEN_15AD&DEV_0801&SUBSYS_080015AD&REV_01

PCI\VEN_15AD&DEV_0801&CC_058000

PCI\VEN_15AD&DEV_0801&CC_0580

I installed VM Tools and It is still listed. I tried uninstalling it and it is re-detected. This is the first time I have used this model server with VMWare, all my previous servers have been HP DL585.

Any Ideas?

Thanks

Responding to my own post....

I fixed this by disableing "Paravirtualzation" support in advanced options for the VM. Not sure why this was enabled as Win 2k3 doesn't support it anyway.

Hi,

i have a situation similar to your. A DL380 G5, ESX (the last version) and a VM that does not recognise correctly the PCI Memory Controller. The VM is a Win 2k server and it came from a VMware Server.

I've uninsalled, cleaned and reinstalled the VMTools but nothing happend.

Paravirtualizazion is OFF.
