Hello Guys,
I have a VM running on ESX 4.1, There is one Network Adaptor added already on the VM which is (Vmware Accelerated AMD PCnet Adaptor) which is running fine.
And I got one request to add one more Nic and I added by going to Edit settings and added one more NIC and I can see that on Device Manager its sowing 2 NIC as Vmware Accelerated AMD PCnet Adaptor and vmxnet3 Ethernet Adaptor also now. But I am unable to view the 2nd NIC on My Network Places. first the 2nd NIC was showing as not installled properly checked through Device Manager but after installing, the 1st installed NIC gets disconnected and I am able to see only one. No idea why it is happening.
Kindly advise how to resolve the issue
Thanks in Advance
Sridhar
Hi,
What OS are you using? VMXNET3 will not work on Server 2000 and older versions of Linux/Unix. Also make sure VMWare tools is installed and up to date on the guest. VMWare tools contains the drivers you need to use VMXNET3
It may even be worth changing the second NIC to E1000 and see if that works for you.
VMware Tools are running?
Have you add the NIC with the VM powered on?
Andre
Yes the VM tools are updated and the OS is windows 2003 Ent ent..
I also tried to power off and power back again..
but still no luck..
Try use a different adapter.
Or try to remove, reboot and reinstall the VMware Tools.

@ sridharb007: Is your guest OS Win2008? I experienced something similar. It seemed to me that the Guest OS ran out of resources (maybe IRQ??). TO get arounf the problem, I disabled the COM ports, LPT ports and the Floppy Controller from device manager. Rebooted and viola! the additional NIC card was available.
Give that a try.
