Hi,
I just Deployed a few VM's from a template at a client site. while deploying i changed the administrator password for the VM (Guest OS) but it seems that sysprep does not implement this change.
Is there a way to change the Admin password for the VM while deploying.
add a run once script, however why do you need to change the local password? couldn't you just convert the template back to a VM and change it in there? then convert it back to a template after. It is a lot simpler

Thanks for your reply ! But is it that the option to change the password doesn't work? wonder why do we have that option?
The deployment is being done from a base image of win2k3 for different departments. we need to ensure that every department has a seperate administrator password.
Hi,
sysprep can change the password of the administrator, when the admin password initiallyis blank.
So , here the suggestion would be, before creating the template, try to clear the administration password.
Then after deploying the vm from the template, run the sysprep, this should change the password there.

As Karunakar say, sysprep can only change a password of a blank account, this is because you are not passing the original password to authenticate your ability and ability to change it. this is not a Vmware issue but a Sysprep one.
