Server 2008 R2 Sysprep

Hello, we are building out a few clusters for Server 2008r2, and it seems we can't sysprep the way we want to, is there a way to tell it to generalize BEFORE the naming and things like that, we are running into issues with the same GUID in a few places, what have others done to get around this?

Thanks!

I'm not sure I understand your question exactly.

When I provision a server from a 2008 R2 template, In the Guest Customization settings is when I enter in what the host name will be. Then When I start up the newly created VM and type in my password for the first time, it goes into to process of syspreping and then joins the domain with a new SID so there aren't any issues joining the domain.

Are you doing the guest customization settings when you deploy your machine?

Not to worried about sids, thats okay cause it replaces the system's guid, but not the network or scsi adapters like generalize does, so building a cluster doesn't cause issues,
