SLES 10 & VMware Tools / E1000 device

Hi

VMware tools install warns of a kernel taint, Novell have advised avoiding anything that taints the kernel. I would like to know the module that taints and if it can be removed from the tools build. I researched with Professor Google and he say it's the VMCI module which is the communication from the Service Console to the VMkernel. If this is the case then the only alternative is surely not to install tools. Any thoughts / ideas / facts even?

The 64 bit SLES VM uses the E1000 device and driver, installing tools does not seem to replace the OS standard driver with a paravirtualised driver, stress the 'seem to'. Does anyone know if the driver is actually replaced as per normal tools behaviour, and if so what we could do to prove it?

Thanks, Andy.
