Resize actual partition

Dear all,

I have already install win2k03 on virtual machine with hardisk size 90 GB. Of course right now it is not enough space so i need to change it. Problem is because on this server i have ftp server. I share 2 important directiories which cannot be moved from current location. I have two partitions C and D

I just want to change size of 😧 partition and add adidtionaly 20 - 40 GB. Is it possible to do this from windows and vmware side.

To manage machine i use VM Virtual Center, Hosts are on EXS3.5

Thank you in advance for all replays,

Best Regards,

Hello,

If it's a thin disk u can just turn off the VM and then change the provisioned size.

Else you can follow this link : http://www.leonmeijer.nl/archive/2007/05/07/25.aspx

Hello there,

Please do the following steps:

1- Edit VM settings and expand add a new Hard Disk size of 20 GB size.

2- Login to the VM and go to disk management, then rescan all disks.

3- Convert the current disk (D:/) from basic to dynamic if it's not already dynamic.

4- Right click on the new disk and create a new volume choosing the option "Spanned".

Dynamic disk is not necessary.

For Vista and latest OS you can use Disk Manager to extend a volume with free space after it.

With previous OS you can use diskpart (exept for the C: disk where you can use Dell Expart).

OK,

But problem is when i want to change size of already existing disk.

I swtich off VM machine

Go to setting and change size of disk,

Applay setting and close settings windows.

I wait moment until vmware accept settings.

And in this moment is something strange i do not run vitrual machine and go to the settings to check disk size. And disk size is the same as before updating.

I cannot change the size. I can only add addidtionaly hardrive.

This is what I'm saying, in this case you need to add another disk.

Be sure that no snap exist on this VM and that the controller is not a IDE type.
