Remove from inventory and add same VM

After adding a failover SAN, one of our datastores came up inactive. The only thing we could seem to do is add the volume again, but with a different name. Now I have VMs that are inaccessible and I can't seem to change the datastore location because 'Edit Settings' is grayed out. I can remove it from Inventory and re-add it, but when I use the "New Virtual Machine Wizard", it is stepping me thru questions about the OS, number of CPUs etc. Is there a way to do this without using the wizard?

via the service console you could use the command line tool

vmware-cmd -s register /path/to/vmxconfig/file
