Regarding the Unlimit Tab in Memory/CPU resource

Hi,

Could anyone please explain me why is this "Unlimitied" checkbox provided for CPU and Memory in the Resource Allocation for Vm. If i have assigned 1024 MB of memory and 1 VCPU and enable the Unlimited Checkbox what will this affect?

Thanks,

Amit

Amit,

A VM is still constrained by the overall maximums configured for it.

The reservation and limit in this UI control the max physical resources the VM can use. For example a VM allocated 1 GB RAM with a limit of 512 cannot get more that 512 physical RAM i.e. if required, the balance 512 will come from swap. When a limit is not set, it could potentially use all available RAM upto its max config from physical memory

Hope that helps
