Hi,
I've got a VMware template that has mistakingly been created with too large a C:\. The OS is 2008R2.
I need to reduce the VMDK, but cannot use converter as that does not work.
Any suggestions?

Hi Doug,
maybe you can convert the template to a virtual machine, use convertor to shrink the C: drive and convert the virtual machine back to a template.
Regards, Robert
Yeh that would be the normal method of doing it......
Unfortunately, 2008R2 is not supported by converter and I could not get it to function.
I have already converted the template to a VM and been down the converter path (with VMware Support also). Looking for alternatives.
set the guestOS to 2008 and try converter again

I tried that while using both the "reconfigure" and convert "vmware infrastructure virtual machine" (which requires the machine be powered off. Does this advice relate to converting the machine as a "powered on" virtual machine?
I've built a fresh image now, so it really doesnt matter.... the matter is really now just for my own curiosity.
Thanks,
Doug
