Recommended RHEL Type on ESXi

We have to this point run all Windows VMs under ESXi, but we are going to add an RHEL VM running DSpace and Postgres SQL. I don't anticipate that this will be a hugely resource intensive application (DSpace + Postgres).

ESX gives the option of using RHEL 2 through 5, either 32 bit or 64 bit. Our ESX servers are PE2950s running 64 bit procs. Any recommendation on RHEL version and 32/64bit choice?

Thanks,

Chad

Set type to RHEL you're going to run, that's all.

Would absolutely recommend RHEL5. Improvement in that kernel improve time keeping in the VM. Its also upt o 5.3 now, so its no longer 'new'. Also well supported by vendors.

As for 32/64 bit - ask your application vendor what they prefer.
