Hi all,
I tried to install a guest machine through VMware Infrastructure Clien - Create a new virtual machine. The VM boot with message: no bootable device found.
How to set the DVD with the OS will be installed to the guest machine?
I need help.
Thanks
Under edit settings, you need to make sure the correct CD/DVD setting is there. If you have a disk you want to install from, insert it into the ESX host that is housing your VM and under the VM settings, select host device. Make sure that the connect on power on check box is selected.
If you have an ISO, then you can select the ISO if it is on a datastore.
Power on the VM and it should see the CD/DVD and allow you to install the OS

I prefer to use ISO images stored on shared storage rather than actual cds themselves - can you create an ISO image of the cd and place onto a shared datastore? If you can than point you VMs cd to that ISO image and make sure the connect at power on is checked - this is also what you should check if you want to continue using the physical dvd -

Thank you Kyle. I did what you said already, but the host could not detect the OS DVD.
Do you have any suggestion?
