When using the LSI_WinXP_1.20.18.flp file what exactly does it do when installing XP on a ESX server?
It contains the driver for the LSI SCSI controller. During WinXP setup, hit F6 to tell it you have a driver disk which it will need to access the SCSI controller (in order to see the SCSI hard disk).
It provides the LSI logic driver for WinXP.
If you configure the VM to use the buslogic controller you don't need it.
If you configure the VM to use the buslogic controller you don't need it.
You would need the Bus Logic driver for the VM to boot since Windows XP install CD does not contain the LSI Logic or the Bus Logic driver.
The last time I installed XP in a VM using the buslogic controller it worked without an additional driver disk.
But maybe this depends on the integrated SP version.
Humm, show where it located on a Windows XP install CD. I would like to see this.
I'll check the CD when I'm back in the office and give you the details.
Im running on a Original Windows XP Pro Swedish CD (No SP integrated).
When running on BusLogic I didnt need a driver (must be on cd).

Just tried it with different XP CDs (german version).
Original XP SP1 includes the buslogic driver.
XP SP2 Action Pack CD also includes the buslogic driver.

Update:
XP SP1 Volume License CD (german version) doesn't contain the driver.
Seems MS sells a lot of different XP versions regarding builtin drivers.
Additional info: I tried USA versions of XP-Pro-SP1 (VLK) and XP-Home-Upgrade SP2 (Retail). Neither worked without the VMWare Buslogic Driver. I could not find the driver on the CD either.
