Problem with Nic after changing to vmxnet on w2k3

Hello.

We're running a Win 2003 Standard 32bit Server on ESX 3.5 U4. After changing the Nic from pcnet32 to vmxnet (enhanced) there is the old driver running in the background. The server found the new hardware, but the old Nic wasn't removed. The vmxnet driver is from January 19. 2009.

How can I remove the old nic? The device-manager shows only one nic, but in the registry are values from the old nic present.

Thanks in advance for your tips.

Best regards.

Enter

set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1

devmgmt.msc

on the command line. When the GUI comes up, enable "View > Show hidden devices".

There you can deinstall unused devices.

Better make a snapshot before doing so. If something goes wrong you can revert back.

Hello AWo.

Yesterday I tested your solution. The hidden Nic was visible, but I didn't uninstallt hem becausethe machine was in use.

This morning I opened the devmanager again. There is not hidden nic. Sometime I go crazy with windows :_| !

Best regards.

You have to set the parameter again.

Do a snapshot before deleting what you don't need just in case something goes wrong.
