Hi,
I was configuring windows 2k advanced server clusters in VMWare esx server 3.5.
So i followed exactly the same steps as shown in link http://exchangeexchange.com/blogs/bkeane/archive/2007/07.aspx to create and shared disk (that can be shared on windows 2k VM's residing in teh same ESX server).
But it gives an error "invalid device configuration" and I am unable to proceed .
Please see the screenshot below for the error messages...
Anyone help...:'(
Thanks...........
also I find in Setup for Microsoft Cluster Service
on page 25
Select the new SCSI controller and click Change Controller Type. Make sure the
controller is set to LsiLogic (the default). BusLogic is not supported when you use
MSCS with ESX Server 3.0 or later.
by this and if you must use bus logic controller for win 2k it looks like you can not create win2k cluster on esx 3.5. but you can try with bus logic controller and you can consider building 2k3 cluster.
which bus controller do you use (lsilogic or bus logic)?
in step 6. where he create disks he use lsilogic
vmkfstools -d thick -a lsilogic -c 1G /vmfs/volumes/vmfs001/SCC1Q.vmdk
and latter in step 21. you have note
(Note: for Windows 2000 Server clusters make sure that this SCSI controller is a Bus Logic type)
maybe there is the problem, create your disks with Bus Logic adapter.
