Novell NetWare VMWare Guest OS

Hi there !

I Virtualized two NetWare 5.1 SP8 / 6.5 SP5 using Portlock and they r working fine, but i want to if someone has any kinds of tips/recommendations for optimal performance. It's still recommended to install VM Tool in a NetWare Environment ?

Any comment or experience in NetWare will be helpfull

We have a few vm's running netware and audit service.

1. Make sure to install the VMware tools, as there is no cpu idler.

2. Having more than 1 CPU does not really help overall.

3. If you use audit, turn off audit channel, or you may have continuous high CPU utilization.

Other than that, they've been running fine for quite some time now.

As I saw (and other mentioned in other threads) the best network performance you can get with amd nic (I saw here ~ 500 Mbit/sec!!)

With vmware tools installed you can shutdown the vm - so when configured your host down will first shut down your Netware vm.
