I just created a ne VM with Windows 2008 from a PXE file. Everything installed correctly as it appeared, but after it loads the desktop at logon it opens a DOS command prompt. If I close the DOS window there is no desktop. Can anyone assist?
Thanks
Gary
Hello. Sounds like you loaded a 2008 Server Core install. Maybe you grabbed the wrong 2008 image?
Good Luck!
Try booting in safe mode and see if it works...also try re-installing and see if it helps...

Same issue for me, user profile loaded but no desktop, no icons , no start button etc.....
I had loaded the server core .iso
re-installed the correct full 2008 installation .iso and worked perfectly,
Thanks ,
