Need to move an NT4 VM to new storage array (Don't have VirtualCenter)

We are moving our VMs to our new EMC Clarion storage. We do not have VirtualCenter yet. I've been using Converter to move all of my 2k3 servers and this has worked fine. With NT4, Converter will reformat the disk.

I assume this may be able to be done through the console but I'm not sure how.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Converter should not reformat the disk at all, it supports NT4 with SP6a. You can also move the VM files using the SCP command or using FastSCP or WinSCP to copy the files. You can also use vmkfstools to clone the disk file from one VMFS volume to another on the same server providing it can see both datastores.

1) Unregister the VM from the ESX host.

2) From the Service Console: vmkfstools -i \vmfs\volumes\oldVMFS\myVM\disk.vmdk \vmfs\volumes\newVMFS\myVM\disk.vmdk

3) Create a new VM and tell it to use an existing disk.

4) Power on the VM, make sure it works then delete the files from the old datastore.
