NT4 guest hanging when clicking on Shutdown

Hi All

has anyone seen this issue. When clicking on shutdown within NT4 (in Vi3) the gues seems to hang. Even losses network connectivity. This happens for about 10-20 seconds, before you can select logoff or shutdown. After that the guest is fine.

thanks

Which network drivers?

Did you try increasing guest resources assigned?

Which SP level? Is VMware Tools installed?

The guest is NT4sp6a and VM tools have been installed.

Just noticed that this problem is only with NT4 guests that were p2v.

I would double check the devices and services to see if there are any hardware-specific items that are no longer applicable to VMware virtual hardware.

P2V of NT4 machines shouldn't matter. The NT4 servers we have as VMs haven't displayed this type of behavior.

Well, first of all you must be sure that NT4 guest hangs and that this is not only a freeze of remote console.

This could be done with a ping -t to another vm or to virtual center until shutdown.

You must see if some packet is loss or not.

Let us know.

There are similar hangs for FTP on GSX:

it could be somehow related.
