NOVELL 6.5

Hey. I have a physical Novell 6.5 to convert to a VM on a ESX 3.5u3. I have had problems, and I failed to make progress. Anyone knowses any procedure, manual, or appropriate software to accomplish this task? Thank you all.

Step 1: Clone

Use supported third party cloning application (e.g. Portlock Storage Manager, Symantec ServerMagic for Netware)

to clone physical disk(s) to new destination virtual machine’s virtual disk(s)

Step 2: Configure

Utilize Novell Helper VM

Create new Novell VM from scratch to provide source of virtual driver files

Attach new destination virtual disk to Novell Helper VM

Replace key Novell files on destination VM

Copy from \NWSERVER\DRIVERS\

STARTUP.NCF and STARTUP.ORG

SCSIHD. CDM and SCSIHD.DDI

LSIMPTNW.HAM and LSIMPTNW.DDI

Update virtual ethernet adapter

Run Novell INETCFG command and select CNEAMD.LAN driver

Update STARTUP.NCF

Remove unnecessary modules

Correct SLOT parameter values

Sample STARTUP.NCF file – for example reference only

LOAD ACPIDRV.PSM

1. End PSM Drivers #########

LOAD IDECD.CDM

LOAD SCSIHD.CDM

1. End CDM Drivers ##########

LOAD IDEATA.HAM SLOT=10004

LOAD LSIMPTNW.HAM SLOT=2

1. End HAM Drivers ##########

Haciendo pruebas antes de ver tu mensaje llegue a la misma solucion.

Igualmente, tus instrucciones fueron muy precisas.

Ahora tengo un problema. Ya tengo el Netware virtualizado y ejecuntandose dentro del ESX, sin embargo no logro montar una unidad de cd rom, y por ejemplo no logro instalar las VMtools, y son fundamentales por que sino la vm consume el 100% de cpu.

Cualquier sugerencia que me hagas te lo agradecere.

Now i have problems mounting cd/dvd, and so i cant install the vmware tools.

Have you any idea to mount the cd/dvd?

LOAD CDDVD

VMWTOOLS:SETUP
