NIC problem after upgrade

Using Upgrade Manager to upgrade VM's, from esx 3,5 to Vsphere

VMware tools start with unistalling all the old drivers then install new onces and reboots.

After that i upgrade the hardware and reboot the VM's.

Now start the problem, the VM's is't accesible from the net. After

loggin in to the console "a new hardware was found you need to reboot,

pops up"

I reboot, still no acess, logging into console once more, a new networkcard is in place with DHCP enabled!!!

This happens to all our VM's 2003 32/64 std/ENT

Also in different clusters with Hp BL465c G1 or BL460c G1

Anyone has the same issue??

Your server is seeing a new nic (hardware) and you probably need to re-enter the network information for this nic.

Good post on it here>> http://blog.scottlowe.org/2009/06/01/vsphere-virtual-machine-upgrade-process/

Yes, I know that!!!

The problem is that when Upgrade Manager to upgrade tools and hardware on the WM's to match ESX Vsphere 4 you should not get this issue.

We haven't added any new hardware and it's staying on the same ESX as before upgrade.

We have about 550 VM's and It's a huge job to check/configure everyone on more time.

Have seen more people having the same issue
