Memory reporting inconsistency

I'm seeing something odd with memory reporting. I'm looking at 2 Windows 2008 VMs that are reporting about 90-95% memory usage in the performance charts of virtual center. However, in the OS, they show about 50% usage. The first thought I had was that it had to do with swapping or balooning, but I don't see any of that being done. I've seen the OS report more memory usage plenty of times, but not less. Anyone else ever see this or have an idea why it might occur?

Install the VMtools and view the additinal counters in POerfmon VM CPU and VM Memory.

I believe there is also a known bug with the reporting counters at the moment .

Lastly . .try ESXTOP if you need more accurate info (or resxtop)

One day I will virtualise myself . . .

The memory reporting seems to be a bit unreliable in some cases, if you need detailed informatione, have a look at the information provided by esxtop on the service console or via Remote CLI.
