Hi people,
I have an ESX dual quad core with 8 GB of RAM. I have 8 virtual machines running, with no reserve of memory or processor. In one of them, with 2 gb of ram configured, I have an alarm of 75% in the guest memory use, but if you check the task manager in that virtual machine, you can see that its using only a few part of the physical memory...why is the reason of the alarm???, i cant understand it...may be if I do a reserve it will work better?, there is no problem with the amount of memory use by the ESX...
any idea?
Have you tried to simply disable/ re-enable the alarm? Sometimes they do not clear automatically..

No I dont...basically, the alarm comes and goes...and in the % used state zone, you can see that when the alarm its on, the color of % its over the green in the yellow so marking the alarm...
Run a vc report to see if the vm is actually staying in that state, or if there was a spike. Also, go into the alarm config, and change the reporting tolerance and frequency. By default, the alarm will not check back for 5 minutes to see if the state has changed. That can be changed by modifying the frequency. Also, by default, the tolerance is 0, which you should change to 1 or something else reasonable, so if the % has changed by that value, the alarm will report differently.
