MSCS can't see RDM disks

Hi,

I've P2V'd a W2K MSCS cluster and configured it according to the pdf guide. All shared disks are RDM's attached to a separate LSI controller set for physical sharing. I can configure these disks as NTFS volumes in Disk Manager. My problem is trying to add them to MSCS. When I try to add a new disk resource, none of the shared disks are listed. It is as though they are not seen as being on a separate SCSI bus to the boot disk.

Has anybody any thoughts?

Hello,

W2K does not have an LSILogic driver. If you switch the 2nd LSI Logic to a buslogic will the drives become visible? Remember that the boot drive is attached using a Buslogic driver.

You could install an LSI Logic driver for W2K.

I've followed the VMware guidelines on this: the C: drive is on a Buslogic adapter, the shared drives are on an LSI Logic adapter setup for sharing. The LSI driver has to be downloaded from the LSI website. All shared disks are RDMs.

Hi Neil,

Connect the systemdrive -> C: to one HBA controller as disk 0,0

Connect all other disk to anohter HBA controller as disk 1,0 1,1 1,2 .... etc.

New MSCS will detect disk 0,0 as not cluster disk and you can add all other disk to the created cluster.
