Logon at the console

Hi,

I cannot logon at the console of a XP VM in VMware vSphere client. Obviously I can do this for the rest of the guest OS like 2003,2008,.. Is this the default behaviour or I am missing something? I have attached the screenshot of the error.Thanks.

Hi

It's giving a logon password error....i dont think this is a virtulisation problem. Have you possibly setup the xp machine with a different keyboard layout?

Thanks for your reply, maybe I should have mentioned that I have no issue logon to this XP vm using RDP. But as soon as I want to login at the console I get this error?!! So it cannot be the keyboard layout.

As mentioned this seems to be a Windows XP problem. You have of course checked that you do not have CAPS LOCK? 

It could also be useful to type the password in the user box, to be able to see in cleartext that you see the correct characters and do not have any issues with different keyboard layouts/language.

Hi Ricnob,

I tried to logon to another XP VM at the console, and it worked. So the issue I had were possibly related to that perticular VM. So to me I consider this issue is resolved now. Thanks a lot for your comments.
