Hello,
First thing I would look at is whether or not RHEL is swapping, use the iostat command. If it is swapping then most likely you need to assign more memory. The other option to look at is the error log files for tomcat. Perhaps there is an error somewhere.

Is this hosted on SAN or local storage? If it's slow it's probably not ESX, it's either SATA drives you are hosting on, or your storage has some other issues.
Thank you Parker,
Yeha it is SAN. but other windows system are working fine...
How do we make bettter LINUX on ESX server as its performacne is DEAD SLOW ?
How we can FINE tune LINUX after installation of VM tools on it.
Hello,
Moved to Virtual Machine and Guest OS forum.
I run Linux almost exclusively as VMs and never have a performance issue, so to break things down, what are you running within your VM?
Also, I assume this is RHEL 5.1 and not RedHat 5.1 (which is ancient).
Did you remove all unneeded services?
