Hi all,
One of my virtualized server 2008 boxes keeps giving the BSOD every couple of days. If i look into the event log, i get the following error just before the crash:
- Provider
Name LSI_SCSI
- EventID 26
Qualifiers 32772
Level 3
Task 0
Keywords 0x80000000000000
- TimeCreated
SystemTime 2008-12-31T03:57:51.609Z
EventRecordID 24308
The driver has detected that device \Device\RaidPort0 has old or out-of-date firmware. Reduced performance may result.
I have a handfull of other virtualized server 2008 boxes that don't have the problem at all. This is the only one that seems to be effected (an Exchange 2007 Server).
I have found various postings online from people with the same issues, however the postings are incomplete, or the "fixes" don't work.
I installed the following patches, which are also supposed to help solve the issue:
BUT it still happens.
The host is VMWare ESX Server 3.5.0, build 82663
Anyone out there with the same issue, or a fix?
Thanks

I have the same problem, but with VMware Server 2.0. I was considering moving my Exchange VMs to ESXi in order to try and solve this particular problem, but it looks like the problem is unavoidable with VMware currently! I am running 4 Exchange servers, and all 4 of them (across 4 different physical hosts) all have this same problem. Host OS is Windows Server 2008 x64, and each guest is running Server 08 as well. I have Exchange 2007 SP1 Update Rollup 5 installed on all 4.
Again, using VMware Server 2.0 Build 122956, with Virtual HW version 4.
