Insufficient Disk Space on Datastore

I've seen this question a few times in the forum, but I didn't see any that directly pertained to my situation. I'm trying to add a virtual hard drive (200GB) onto a currently existing VM. I've got plenty of room on the data store (400+ GB). Since I'm under the 256GB limit, I shouldn't have to reformat the luns. It's still giving me the Insufficient Disk Space on Datastore error when I try to create the new hard drive, though. Also, when I create it, I'm specifying which datastore I want it to use. Thanks for any help!

Welcome to the forums - how are you checking the free space on your VMFS datastore? I want ot make sure you are not simplt adding up the disks that are stored on the VMFS datastore because you need to take into acount vmkernel swap log files etc. that are used by the vm

Thanks for the reply! I'm using the VMWare Infrastructure Client. Then I go to Hosts and Clusters. I click on one of the hosts and click on the configuration tab. Then I click on storage and it tell me in there. I actually added another extent to see if that would fix the issue, but to no avail. When I look at the datastore I want to use it says under capacity it says I have 1.04TB and under Free I have 650.99GB all of type vmfs3.

One thing that's kind of quirky, but I'm a newbie, so I don't know if this makes a difference is that the actual error message says Insufficient Disk Space on Datastore".

Note, I meant to only put one quotation mark in there and a period. Maybe it's nothing but I don't get why there's only one quote and a period.
