IIS7 install slow on windows 2008

Hey Everyone,

I have a vendor that is concerned about the amount of time an IIS7 install (add feature) takes when installing on windows server 2008. They tell me that normally IIS7 add feature takes about 30 seconds to a minute.  But on this server it takes 6 minutes 37 seconds and they are worried it will impact production once the application is ready.

Does anyone have a baseline on how long a normal iis7 install should take, or examples of one that went long but was ok?

My setup:

ESX 4.1 build 582267

HP Proliant BL490c G6

* cpus at 2.933 GHz

98 gigs of memory

Host runs at 28% cpu and 65% memory utilized.

VM setup:

Windows server 2008 64 bit

VM version 7 - Tools updated

8 vCPU - 8192 megs of memory

On fiber channel VMAX

Reservations for memory and cpu are normal, unlimited

Kaizen!

Not IIS, but AD Management tools.  Recently enabled those windows components on one server and it took forever (ok, like 10 mins) to complete.  After, things were just fine.

This was Win2008 w/ SP2, but a much smaller sized VM.  But I don't think it has anything to do with the sizing of the box.
