Hi all,
Today i have extended a hard disk to increase the disk size on one of the Vm. Later due to requirements no longer required the hard disk. so is it possible to delete the disk which i have extended?
Thanks in advance
There is no way to shrink vmdk file.
Only create new, smaller size, replicate data and delete first.
If you need temporary space then create new disk and just delete it when it's no longer needed.

Are we talking about VMFS extents or VM OS extents? If we are talking about vmfs extents the answer is most definitely NO. If we are talking about the VM OS, is would be nice to know how you extended it, which OS etc.

I am trying to increase virtual machine hard disk (vmdk file) from 70 gb to 120 gb. Please find the steps below.
through vc i edit the virtual machine hard disk size from 70 to 120.
later as i said ealier no longer required 50 gb of hard disk so i tried to remove which is unsuccessfull.
but still the 50gb hard disk is stick to the vm which is use less and we can't use the disk space.
Let me know if you want any further information.
Thanks
