How to extend the vmdk without shutdown Guest OS

Dear all, How do I extend the vmdk size without shutdown the guest OS?

I use

vmkfstools -X /vmfs/volumes/mystore/myvirtualhdd.vmdk

but I need to shutdown the Guest OS

AFAIK, you will have to shut down the guest OS to make this happen. Then you can use GParted to finish it up....

To extend a virtual disk you need to shut down the VM.

If you're using LVMs you can add another disk to the VM hot, and then add it to your Volume group and extend your filesystem over it.
