How to deal with Windows KMS activation ?

Good morning,

I have a question regarding Windows VM activation. Currently we have a working KMS server, i want to know how to activate other Windows VM automatically during VM deployment and guest OS customization ? We usually deploy new VM from the VM templates.

After the deployment, once your virtual machine DNS settings is configured, KMS client will query the DNS for KMS service and if your KMS is properly configured, your client will be activated.

Should the KMS server and clients be in the same domain. in our environment, the kms server and clients all running in workgroup mode.  Also can i use thirty-party DNS server ?
