How to change the hard-to-read blue-on-black console

This seems like something simple but I can't find anything about this anywhere.

I am using VI Client to talk to my VCenter server and I have a Linux guest (SL5.2) running on one of my ESX 3.5 servers. The VM console displays as blue text on a black background. Is this a function of VI Client, ESX server, VCenter, or the Guest OS?

The Linux VM is NOT running X or any window manager.

More importantly, as it is unbelievably hard to read, how can I change it?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Gerald J.

VM Console shows exactly what guest OS want to show.

There is no way to change this except from inside guest OS.

But when I install on real hardware, I always get white text on black, so why would ESX/VC/VI display blue?

Are you really sure you see text in VI Console and on real console in the same graphic mode? I think not.

I can assure you, that's not a problem with VM Console. Check your guest linux settings.
