make sure you are using a buslogic adapter and then download & use a preconfigured .flp file from the VMware site: .

Power On your Windows XP machine. The installation of Windows XP should begin.

During setup, press F6 to select additional SCSI drivers

Connect your floppy and use S during Windows Setup when prompted to connect to the floppy drive.

The Buslogic drive should appear. Press ENTER to continue

Setup will continue as normal

Hi Alan (or anyone who might know),

Is this the correct methodology for ESXi also? Specifically, I'm getting the same message when trying to install XP, SP3 onto a Dell machine with an SATA drive.

I've created a VM on the ESXi operating system, allocating a virtual drive. When I try to do the actual install, I get that message. What I got from the previous threads, though, was the others were trying to install using a physical drive (not allowed with SATA) not the virtual I'm trying to install.

Any help would be gladly received (and points awarded, too). Smiley Happy
