How to Remove Private setting on Guest OS

We have two Guest OS on a VMware ESX server that were marked private by a user but we cannot find who made them private. As an alternative to deleting them is there a way to modify or remove a config file so that we can easily remove the private feature and get the OS up and running?

Thanks for any suggestions.

You can always try creating a new VM and using the existing disk file as the system disk. This is a nice trick in DR as well. Basically you just remove the VM from inventory move the disk file to another location and recreate the VM. Afterward you can do cleanup on the vmx file and or the previous VM directory.

Oh.. And I am not sure how the VM was made private in ESX.. I have never seen this option outside of VMware Server.

We are using VMware Server, I had thought that VMware Server used to be called ESX. Thanks for the info, I assumed that it was possible using a similar method but was sure exactly how to do it.

Thanks!
