Guest RAM Amounts...

Hello Everyone:

It seems that when we have a Server 2003 (Ent or Standard) guest OS that is assigned <= 2 GB of RAM, the total amount of RAM displayed under System Properties is accurate.

However, on guests with more than 2 GB of RAM, 256 MB is being removed from the assigned amount of RAM. Is this a Server 2003 issue? Why is the RAM disappearing - reserved for "graphics", ESX overhead being subtracted, etc? We are at a loss.

Check out his article, this is usually an OS issue, ESX does use some RAM for each VM but it is not taken from the amount of RAM assigned to the VM.
