Newbie here so be nice....?:| I am simply trying to create a Windows XP 32bit VM and when attempting to do so I get to the point of inspecting system and then it says it that it can't find any hard drives. I did a google search and found an article stating that an XP OEM version won't recoginze SCSI controlled hard drives. The server that I'm running ESX is a HP 380 with 6 hard drives via SCSI.
Yep, that could do it as well...

WinXP does not come with a driver for the LSI Logic SCSI controller.
You can either :
1) Select the "Bus Logic" SCSI Controller, and load the driver from the floppy image downloaded from:
http://download3.vmware.com/software/vmscsi-1.2.0.4.flp
2) Load the appropriate driver for the LSI Logic LSI20320-R SCSI controller from the floppy image:
<<WinXPSCSI.flp attached>>

Alright I'm really feeling like a newbe, but the link you provided downloads a file.....do i save that to a floppy?
I believe that download is a .flp which you can then mount just like a CDROM .iso file (except in the floppy drive section). You need the floppy drive so you can hit F6 during the install of XP and manually load the SCSI driver so the install will see your hard drives.
hands down you rock! problem solved.
THANKS!
O.K. now I've gotten past that it installs the OS and when it reboots it gives me the NTLDR is missing...
I fixed it by changing the BIOS to boot to the HD first.
Which floppy image did you use - the "WinXPSCSI.flp", or the BusLogic SCSCI driver from the VMware link?
If you used the second, make sure that you change your SCSI controller to "Bus Logic".
